Ashlar-Vellum™ Support for Macintosh on Intel
Updated June 26, 2008 Austin, TX - Current versions of Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt, Xenon, Argon and Graphite v8 for Mac Power PC work seamlessly on Mac Intel machines running OS X 10.5.2+ (Leopard). These versions run automatically under Apple’s Rosetta emulation provided free with Leopard.
Our development team continues to work on a version optimized for Mac Intel-based machines. This version should provide a significant speed increase for those customers running particularly large or complex files. Universal binary technology will later allow us to marry the Mac Power PC and Intel versions into one package for easy download, distribution and installation.
For now, if you’re one of the few power users who really needs more speed than running the PPC version on a Mac Intel provides, there are several interim options:
- Run the Windows version on the Intel Mac using Apple Boot Camp or Parallels.
- Run the Intel beta version for Intel for everything except photo-rendering, then switch to the PPC version for rendering only.
